Privacy Policy
1. Who runs FitOS
FitOS is built and maintained by Algometric Pty Ltd (ACN 693 416 625), based in Australia, as a personal fitness tool. For questions, contact support@fastturtle.com.au.
2. What data FitOS collects
FitOS only collects data that you actively enter or authorize it to read from Apple Health. There is no passive collection of any kind.
Data you enter directly
- Profile: name, weight, height, age, gender
- Daily targets: calorie, protein, water, step, and sleep goals
- Meals: name, calories, macros, time of day
- Workouts: template, exercises, sets, reps, weights, completion, duration
- Manual sleep log: hours and quality percentage
- Manual recovery and strain scores
- Workout notes
Data read from Apple Health (only if you grant permission)
When you tap “Connect Apple Health” in Settings, FitOS requests permission to read the following from HealthKit:
- Steps and step count samples
- Active and basal energy burned
- Workouts (type, duration, start and end time)
- Sleep analysis samples
- Heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability
- Weight, height, body mass index
- Distance walking and running, flights climbed
- Water intake
These are read on demand (when you open the app or tap “Sync Now”). FitOS uses them to render the dashboard, compute a recovery score, and draw charts. The data never leaves your device.
Data written to Apple Health (when you log it in FitOS)
If you grant write permission, FitOS may write back:
- Workouts you complete inside FitOS
- Water intake you log inside FitOS
You can revoke write access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → FitOS.
3. Where your data is stored
On your device only.
- FitOS uses
AsyncStorage, which writes encrypted-at-rest JSON to your iPhone’s local app sandbox. - Apple Health data lives in the HealthKit database Apple manages on your device.
- No data is uploaded to a server. There is no FitOS backend.
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud, your FitOS app data is included in that backup per Apple’s standard iCloud Backup behavior. FitOS itself does not initiate any cloud transfer.
4. What FitOS does NOT do
- We do not have a user account system, login, or signup.
- We do not collect your email, phone number, name (other than what you optionally type in Settings), or any identifier.
- We do not send any data to our servers (we don’t have any).
- We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your data with third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
- We do not include third-party analytics SDKs, ad SDKs, or crash reporting SDKs that phone home.
- We do not access your photos, contacts, microphone, camera, or location.
- We do not use HealthKit data to determine eligibility for life insurance, employment, or any other purpose prohibited by Apple’s HealthKit terms.
5. How to control your data
Revoke HealthKit access
iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → FitOS → toggle off any category you no longer want FitOS to read or write.
Delete all FitOS data
- iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → FitOS → “Delete App”, or
- Long-press the FitOS app icon on your home screen → “Remove App”.
Uninstalling removes all locally stored FitOS data instantly. There is no copy on any server to delete because there is no server.
Export your data
FitOS does not currently offer a built-in export. Because your data is local, you can use HealthKit’s own export feature (Health app → profile → Export All Health Data) or a Mac backup tool to retrieve the FitOS sandbox.
6. Children
FitOS is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are under 13, please do not use FitOS.
7. HealthKit-specific commitments
Per Apple’s HealthKit terms, FitOS commits to:
- Only request HealthKit access for data types essential to the features described.
- Display clear usage descriptions before requesting access.
- Never share HealthKit data with third parties for advertising, data mining, or any commercial purpose.
- Never sell HealthKit data.
- Never use HealthKit data outside the purposes described in the app.
If FitOS ever changes any of this (for example, if optional cloud sync ships in the future), we will update this policy and the App Store Privacy Nutrition Labels, and prompt you again for consent before any new behavior takes effect.
8. Security
Your data is protected by iOS itself:
- iOS sandboxing prevents other apps from reading FitOS’s local storage.
- HealthKit data is encrypted by Apple at rest and in iCloud Backup.
- AsyncStorage writes are protected by iOS’s on-device data protection (encrypted while the device is locked).
We do not have additional server-side security to disclose because there is no server.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes — for example, adding cloud sync or analytics — will be communicated through an in-app notice and a new permission request.
